MAXIMUM DNA

Maxmsp DNA patch

So here you can see possibly the messiest patch I have ever made… probably best to not look.
I was trying to create moving DNA pictures. I’m aware they do not move but wanted to create the idea you were looking at different peoples DNA moulding in to each others… just for fun!

I also had the camera reactive here. It can film the screen which creates little trails underneath the more saturated boxes. Or you can interfere with it with your body and hands. However there is a video alpha blended (basically green screened) in with the live feed. It’s sparklers!

Because the pixel ratio of the video is about 9-200 or 15-100 the sparklers become little rectangles, looking a little like the DNA pictures I was looking at before.

I now need to look at creating distortion and maybe higher contrast with in the pictures to make them look more like the DNA pictures.

the fadey effect works well here^^

I quite like the orangey tinge here. it is possible to have any colour, i think i will try later to create a light blue back ground with black squares (i will most likely have to involve a negative effect in order to achieve this)

here i really messed around with the levels creating, it is obviouse from the spacing that i need to use a better video than the sparklers. something with more veritey and if i load a video up you will see the movement is mostly uo and down. It looks better however when it is side to side, creating the illusion of dna developing more.

(Here^ you can see the camera recording the side computer screen and the little pink rectangle is the sparkler) harsh angles do not create convincing dna pictures... (need to find proper term for dna pictures)
